Discovery Myers, Rodriguez en Icochea, 1998, American Museum Novitates; New York, 3238: 2.
Type locality "on ridge along Río Távara (trib. Río Tambopata) just below confluence of Río Candamo and Río Huacamayo, about 450 m elev. (13° 31´ S, 69° 41´ W), Depto. Puno, Peru. The type locality is in the Zona Reservada Tambopata-Candamo".
Holotype The holotype: MUSM 16996 (in the American Museum of Natural History?).

Distribution Lower montane Andean forest in the upper Río Madre de Dios watershed, Departamento Puno, Peru.
Biotope
Care and breeding They can be kept at a temperature of 25-27°C.
