Discovery Funkhouser, 1956 (Phyllobates espinosai)
Type locality "Hacienda espinosa, elevation about 1,000 ft., 9 km. west of Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Province of Pichincha, northwestern Ecuador".
Holotype The holotype is located under number: CAS-SU 10577 in the Stanford University collection.
Etymology
Classification E. espinosai is a member of the Epipedobates femoralis group.
Synonymy English name: Espinosa Poison Frog / Turqoise-bellied Poison Frog (CITES).

Distribution Wet Chocoan region of the Andes in northwestern Ecuador.
