Type locality "at Pôrto Walter on the Rio Juruá, Territory [state] of Acre, Brazil (8° 16' S, 72° 46' W)".
Holotype The holotype: MZUSP 51597 is located in the Universidade de Săo Paulo, Museu de Zoologia, Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Etymology Named after its discoverer, Dr. Paulo Vanzolini.
Classification D. vanzolinii is a member of the quinquevittatus group.
Synonymy English name: spotted poison frog / Brazilian Poison Frog

Distribution The border of Brazil and Peru.
Biotope
Care and breeding Breeding behavior and care are comparable to D. imitator. Temperature about 24 to 28°C.
